Due to rapid urbanization, the issue of growing cities in the South is a major issue today. Just and inclusive development design and planning is crucial to the future of cities. The notion of a just and inclusive city advocates for participatory process of transformation and change. Kuwa works with participatory methods in its action orientated projects.
Kuwa undertakes action-orientated work with partners as well as research and knowledge sharing via regular contact with policy and planning practice. KUWA provides solutions to urban design and planning issues within a city, adopting a participatory and multi-disciplinary lens.
Kuwa's overarching goal is to improve the lives of the urban poor by working hand in hand with communities to develop and empower them to address their issues and develop solutions. All proposals incorporate participatory methods in their approach in order to encourage, promote and advance participation to all stakeholders.
Kuwa endorses the notion that all people have a right to the city therefore aims to work towards urban planning activities to achieve just and inclusive programs. Kuwa also aims to promote learning and knowledge sharing.
